My Movie Journey
(Updated August 1, 2012)

WHAT I'M WATCHING ...
I thought it would be cool, and fun to keep a log (updated the first of every month) of some of the movies I've been watching.
The log will consist of:
1. The last movie I purchased.
2. The last movie I saw in theaters.
3. The last movie I rented. (redbox, paid on demand, blockbuster, and/or other video stores)
4. The last movie I watched via Netflix.
5. The last movie I watched via my personal collection.
So the list will consist of four movies, all in which will be briefly commented on in the "Personal Thoughts" section.
If nothing changes in a month, then nothing will be updated. If, for example, only one changes, then only one will be updated.

Personal Thoughts
1. Most Recent (Purchase): Paranormal Activity 3: Was an entertaining movie (though not quite as good as the first two in my opinion). I definitely liked the unrated directors cut (blu-ray) edition better than I did the theatrical version (it included some of the scenes from the trailer, not seen in the theatrical version).
2. Most Recent (In Theaters): The Cabin in the Woods: Definitely not what I was expecting, but it was a very fun twist on the "backwoods" cabin in the woods sub-genre. This movie will probably eventually go on to become a cult film. Two of my friends that were at the theater with me that night loved it, and two of them hated it, or should I say, didn't quite get it. It's just one of those films! I enjoyed it, but I definitely didn't like it as much as others out there apparently did.
3. Most Recent (Rental): The Hills Run Red: Started off pretty promising, with a good and disturbing premise, similar to the Cannibal Holocaust film controversy back in the 80's. I thought the babyface character was a great idea for a slasher character -- his chilling backstory, the mask he wore, it just had a catchy ring to it. But what starts off with the potential to be one of the better modern day slashers, eventually escalates into sheer torture porn, which for me, was a bit dissatisfying.
4. Most Recent (Netflix): Pontypool: I'd been wanting to see this moving for a while now. I love when movies find ways to hold my interest despite having limited resources and smaller budgets. I enjoyed pontypool (Georgia Reilly is hot) even though my friend thought it started off kind of slow. It's not your typical zombie movie but is definitely one worth the watch if you haven't seen it before.
5. Most Recent (Personal Collection): The Shining (1980): The Shining has always been one of my all-time favorites. I hadn't seen it all the way through in at least 5 years. This time around I got a chance to see it on Blu-ray (which I purchased several weeks back). The Shining is a well made, well shot, atmospheric classic -- and I will leave it at that because I plan to do a movie recommendation on this one in the very near future.
