Personal Thoughts
So I've decided to try something new for this post. I've chosen to involve my wife and allow her to post her thoughts on Paranormal Activity 2. I felt like she was probably more qualified to give an opinion on this seeing as, this is the kind of movie that really freaks her out!
So I've decided to try something new for this post. I've chosen to involve my wife and allow her to post her thoughts on Paranormal Activity 2. I felt like she was probably more qualified to give an opinion on this seeing as, this is the kind of movie that really freaks her out!
My heart started racing, sweat beads began forming at my forehead and my throat got parched. This happened when I saw the trailer for Paranormal Activity 2 for the first time (I was at the theater to see Twilight)! When the wait was over, and we finally got a chance to see this one, I knew I'd be in for a rough ride!
The first Paranormal Activity had me excited that there was finally going to be a good documentary-style movie like this. I am a fan of shows such as Ghost Hunters and anything paranormal, so this was huge for me.
What I like about PA2 is that it includes more than two people, it involves a family (Kristie, Daniel, Ali and Hunter). PA2 centers around Kristie, the younger sister of Katie from the first movie, and is also set in the months before the events of the first movie ... so it's a prequel.
I really liked the onscreen chemistry of the actors in this movie, they really did act and feel like a legitimate family ... and with all the strange disturbances going on, I felt like the family's mixed reactions were pretty realistic. Daniel Rey (father) responded pretty much the same way my dad would have.
Let's get to the disturbances! This one had far more than it's predecessor and they started much earlier. The activity (in my opinion) is much more disturbing than the first movie. Seems like this demon or ghost has a game plan and a strategy ... it knows exactly who it wants, how it wants it and when it'll take it!
I think the Paranormal Activity series is a great idea. I like the back story and mystery behind the family (Katie and Kristi). They tastefully provide us with pieces of the puzzle, giving us information without giving us too much information. The last 20 minutes had me biting my nails, closing my eyes and burying my face in my husbands shoulders!
In Closing: Paranormal Activity 2 was fun, frightening, and entertaining, great for a date night movie (if she or he likes scary movies) and also great for a nice October evening, also known as Halloween time ... which is why I'm making this my 25th movie recommendation (28th overall recommendation).
