Synopsis
Tragedy seems to follow nine-year-old Esther. She was orphaned in her native Russia. Her last adoptive family perished in a fire Esther barely escaped. But now the Coleman family has adopted her, and life is good. Until a classmate takes a serious fall from a slide. Until an orphanage nun is battered to death. And until Esther’s new mom wonders if that tragic fire was an accident. From Dark Castle Productions comes Orphan, bringing stunning new twists to the psychological thriller and locking audiences in a tightening vise of mystery, suspicion and terror. You’ll never forget Esther. So sweet. So intelligent. So creative. So disturbed.

Personal Thoughts
I'm on vacation this week, so for the sake of saving time, I'll try and keep this post short.
Killer kids is a movie premise that horror fans should be very familiar with by now. The Orphan (baring resemblances to movies such as Case 39 and the Good Son) is another "Killer Kid" movie that is sure to make you think twice about adopting a child... or at the very least, is sure to make you do a more thorough background check before adopting a child into your family.
The premise: Kate and John Coleman decide to adopt 9 year old Esther into their family. If you know horror, than you've probably guessed that she's evil, and you've probably also guessed that though things go smoothly at first, they quickly go to hell. Weary that Esther may not be the innocent princess she appears to be, and being convinced that her family may now be in danger, Kate must act fast in uncovering the secrets of Esther's dark past before it's too late.
The Orphan is a good, well written, suspenseful psychologically thriller that's sure to play with you emotionally. It ended up leaving me fearful, angry, sad and bitter.
In any event, I'm making this my next movie recommendation (18th Overall) ... good for a dark, cozy rainy night.
