50 Movies and Counting...

We, here at TOO SCARY 2 WATCH have compiled a list of 50's horror films (arranged by year) that we believe may be worth checking out, for avid horror fans who love classic scary movies like we do. The "incomplete" list will continue to be modified and updated as we continue to find more movies that we've overlooked, or feel are worthy of adding.

Mad Scientists, Monsters, Alien Invasions, Haunted Houses and more ...

It can be argued whether some of the movies on the list actually belong in the horror genre (especially considering the fact that there appeared to be a thin line between sci-fi , action and horror as far as the fifties were concerned) ... nevertheless, with versatility in mind, we've done our best to include some that are cult classics, some that are horror comedies, some that are hammer films, some that are sci-fi action horror, some that are psychological thrillers, along with others that may be open for interpretation.
________________________________________________________________________
Disclaimer

Not all of the movies on the list, in our opinion, are good movies, but were chosen to be included for a variety of different reasons. -- Some are staple horror films of the fifties, some are popular horror films of the fifties, some are cult films, some have greatly influenced horror movies of the modern era, while others were films that went on to be remade decades later.

Thanks and enjoy!

A sci-fi hallmark that offers wry commentary on the political climate of the 1950s, this Golden Globe-winning classic is less concerned with special effects than with its potent message.

i am looking for a movie from 50s or 60s all I remember is that it was set in suburbs and it was about sort of a brainwashed perfect society. any ideas thanks

Well there is the Stepford Wives, but that was the 70's. You want to look up movies about dystopian societies, or perhaps even utopian. Do you know who was in this film? Where it was set? What period it was set in? There was a movie that came out in the 90's that sounds similar to what you're describing. I believe it was a remake of something from the 50's. You have to be a little more explicit if you want people to help you find it, because your statement is vague.

Looking for a 50's flick from which I remember 2 things: it had a dead body in a locked trunk in a basement but the hand stuck out by itself by morning. scared the hell out of me (7 years old). And a flick where a lady drank some sort of elixer and then looked in the mirror revealing her face turned into a cracked look with really buggy eyes and wirey hair. Again, an image burned into my young mind.

Amazing blog for searching scary movies. In childhood i watched 'The fly' movie but after that gradually forgot the name, i wanted to see it again. now i found name and movie link in this blog.. Thanks for sharing. Get some good collection of movies here Really good movies

@Unknown...perfect society movie may be "X the unknown from outer space" and the dead body in the trunk sounds like a Boris Karloff "Thriller" tv episode "The Storm" maybe? Lastly, I can only think of the star trek pilot episode "The Cage" where, in the final moments, Vina's true appearance -mangled from surgery and aged- is revealed. If any of that might help!! :)
