Slasher Movies of the 2000's - Part II

2000's Slashers - Part II
(2005-2009)

________________________________________________________________________

100+ Slasher Movies and Counting...

TOO SCARY 2 WATCH now presents a list of 2000's Slasher horror films (arranged by year) that we believe may be worth checking out if you love slasher flicks like we do. The list (divided into two parts) will continue to be updated over the next several months, until we've reached the targeted goal of 200 movies.

Our initial goal was to create a list of genuine slashers (and teen terrors) from the first decade of the 2000's, but we have since, decided to break the rules and include movies that in our opinion, aren't real slashers (example: Wrong Turn, Wolf Creek, The Hills Have Eyes, The Strangers and Final Destination).

Our generic slasher film definition:

Slashers: - Are movies where a group of individuals, mostly teens, are stalked and murdered typically one by one, by a masked killer and/or deformed or deranged psychopath (the 80's used the escaped mental patient theme a lot). In slashers, most of the time, the characters (or main character) are clueless to the fact that people are being murdered until everyone is almost dead.

Our generic teen terror film definition:

Teen Terrors: - Are movies, centered around a group of teens being killed off one by one. These films tend to make everyone a suspect, leaving us with the unsettling feeling that any of the characters introduced, (that hasn't already been killed off) may very well be the perp. The killers "true" identity is usually not unveiled until the end of the movie ... and when the killer is finally revealed, there's usually (but not always) a well thought out, long drawn out explanation as to why he or she is doing the killing. Although teen terrors are"Slashers", I've decided to make a distinction, because most Teen Terrors have a "who done it" element to them (everyone's a suspect) while the typical Slasher tends to be more centered around a completely anonymous murderer, or a psychopath the audience already knows the identity of.

In our opinion, there are glaring differences between slashers, serial killer movies, torture porn, home invasion movies, and breakdown/backwoods style movies, but for the sake of keeping things simple, we've decided to go ahead and cross sub-genres. We've provided a variety of slasher horror films, some that definitely fit the slasher criteria, along with others that may be open for interpretation.

So with versatility in mind, we've done our best to create a list consisting of good slashers, popular slashers, underrated slashers, sleezy slashers, B-slashers, campy slashers, supernatural slashers, giallo slashers, gory slashers and even some of the really lame slashers as well.
________________________________________________________________________
Disclaimer

Some of the movies on the list, in our opinion, aren't necessarily good movies, but were chosen to be included for a variety of different reasons.

Thanks and enjoy!
